Virtual Boston Marathon

September 9, 2020 (1 mins to read)

The Boston Marathon is the world’s largest annual marathon. This year’s marathon, originally scheduled for April 20, was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic but registrants are still able to participate virtually, September 5-14.

Registrants have access to an app that tracks their race and plays audio cues from the real course, such as the sound of the Wellesley Scream Tunnel and crowds on Boylston Street. Those participating in the virtual event have until Sept. 14 to run the 26.2 miles and receive their Boston Marathon medal.

Additionally, Amazon and WBZ-TV are teaming up on a “Boston Marathon Live” broadcast that will be aired nightly.  It will certainly be a marathon to remember!
