SoWa First Fridays

On the First Friday of every month, the artists, galleries, shops and showrooms of the SoWa Art + Design District open their doors to the public for an evening of art, culture and inspiration. Meet the artists in their element, view the latest gallery exhibitions, shop small, and dine at one of SoWa's world-class restaurants. SoWa First Fridays, every first Friday of the month, 5:00pm - 9:00pm. Location: 450 + 460 Harrison Avenue, South Boston.


Art in Bloom

Celebrate the return of spring at the Museum of Fine Art’s Art in Bloom festival, April 27-29. This event pairs works of art from the Museum of Fine Arts’ collection with floral arrangements. Daily events include ikebana demonstrations, outdoor walking tours, and casual dining among masterpieces. Famed florist Remco van Vliet will be on hand for master classes and a lecture with tips for at-home gardeners.


Explore Plum Island by Bicycle

Take advantage of the spring weather and explore Plum Island by bicycle on Saturday, Apr 20. This day trip includes a visit to the Hellcat Wildlife Observation Area, the beach, and an observation tower which provides views of the island.  Afterwards, join the group in getting a bite in downtown Newburyport. The group meets at Wellington Station in Medford in the morning.  Bike rentals are available or you can bring your own.


Dumpling Making Party with Chef Patty Chen

Make traditional Taiwanese-American dumplings with the Happy Chef Patty Chen, owner of the Dumpling Room in Cambridge. Learn to make five different shapes and stuff them with two different fillings. Light bites/tapas will be served to start the evening, and of course, you can eat your creations afterward. The Dumpling Making Party will be Thursday, Apr 11, 2019 6:00p - 8:30pm at The Windsor Inn, Cambridge.


Cambridge Science Festival

Happy Place

Get happy at the Happy Place, a pop-up experience filled with one of a kind installations and multi-sensory immersive rooms.  Each of the 12 rooms in this exhibit are filled with unusual attractions, like a yellow tub surrounded by hundreds of rubber ducks, a bedroom designed to look like it’s been turned upside down, the Confetti Dome, and a room filled with 40 thousand flowers. Taste of the South End benefits AIDS Action which is New England’s largest provider of services to people living with HIV/AIDS.

The MFA has just launched its first ever Frida Kahlo exhibit. It tightly focuses on Kahlo’s lasting engagements with arte popular, exploring how her passion for objects such as decorated ceramics, embroidered textiles and children’s toys shaped her own artistic practice.
